Privacy Policy
Last updated: November 4, 2026
This policy covers two things that share this domain: the Classroom Timers website you are reading, and VisualTimer V4, a separate desktop tool used to publish timer videos to the Visual Timers YouTube channel. They collect different data, so each is described on its own.
1. Classroom Timers (this website)
The timer needs no account, sign-in or form, and the site does not ask for your name, email address or any other personal details.
Google Analytics
The site uses Google Analytics, a Google service, to count visits and see which timer features are used. Google Analytics uses cookies or similar identifiers and receives standard browser and device information, as described by Google. The site also sends Google Analytics a small event when you use a timer control (for example start, pause, reset, fullscreen, pop-out, clock or count-up mode, or choosing a message preset). Each event includes the timer mode, the duration, the time format, the palette, the message preset and the page. Custom message text is not sent, because the site has no feature that accepts it.
Learn how Google uses data from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. You can opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
Saved in your browser
To remember your choices, the timer saves your display and sound preferences (palette, weight, time format, count-up or countdown, message preset, loop, tick, chime and cycle settings) and a snapshot of the timer for the pop-out display window in your browser’s local storage. This stays on your device and is not sent to this site. You can remove it by clearing this site’s data in your browser.
Hosting
The site is hosted on Vercel, which may keep standard server logs such as IP addresses and requested pages, as described in Vercel’s privacy policy.
2. VisualTimer V4 (YouTube publishing tool)
VisualTimer V4 is a desktop tool that the operator of Classroom Timers runs on their own computer to render timer videos and upload them to the Visual Timers YouTube channel. It is not part of this website, it is not a web service, and it has no accounts or users of its own. This website does not receive any data from it.
What it asks Google for
VisualTimer V4 asks the channel owner to sign in with Google and requests these YouTube permissions:
youtube.upload: to upload videos to the channel.youtube.force-ssl: to read the channel’s videos and their status, and to manage the videos the tool uploads: set a thumbnail, add a video to a playlist, and set or clear a private video’s scheduled publication time.
YouTube data it reads
- The signed-in channel’s ID, name and handle, so the owner can confirm the correct channel before anything is uploaded.
- For videos on the channel, including videos the tool did not upload: video IDs, titles, upload dates, privacy status, processing status, any scheduled publication time, each video’s length and its frame size (width and height). This is used to verify uploads, to avoid uploading the same video twice, and to avoid scheduling over a slot already in use (the length and frame size tell Shorts from regular videos). To restart without re-reading the whole channel, the tool saves a copy on that computer of the channel’s non-public (Private or scheduled) videos only: each video’s ID, privacy status, scheduled publication time, length and frame size, and when it was read, plus the times of the tool’s YouTube search requests. It is checked against YouTube again before it is used, any entry not refreshed within 30 days is deleted, and Disconnect YouTube deletes it. Public videos and video titles of other videos are not saved.
YouTube data it changes
- Uploads videos as Private, with a title, description, tags, category, language, “made for kids” setting and altered-content setting.
- Sets a thumbnail, and adds a video to a playlist if one is chosen.
- When automatic scheduling is turned on, sets or clears the scheduled publication time of a private video that the tool uploaded.
It does not read comments, subscribers or analytics, it does not delete videos, and it does not access any other Google service.
Where the data is kept
- The Google sign-in token is stored in the macOS Keychain on the owner’s computer. The Google OAuth client file is a file in the owner’s user account on that computer. Neither is uploaded anywhere or shown in the tool’s interface.
- The tool’s publishing records stay in files on that computer: the video file path, title, description, tags, thumbnail, YouTube video ID and link, upload and schedule status, the connected channel’s ID and name, and a history of actions.
- Nothing is copied to a server run by the operator of Classroom Timers. The only network connections it makes for this purpose are to Google and YouTube.
Sharing and use
Data received from Google APIs is used only to provide the publishing features described above. It is not sold, not shared with third parties, not used for advertising, and not used to train machine learning models. VisualTimer V4’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
YouTube API Services
VisualTimer V4 uses YouTube API Services. By using it you agree to be bound by the YouTube Terms of Service. Google’s handling of your data is described in the Google Privacy Policy.
3. Revoking access, retention and deletion
- Revoke access. Choose “Disconnect YouTube” in VisualTimer V4. It asks Google to revoke the token, removes it from the Keychain, and deletes the saved inventory of the channel’s non-public videos. You can also revoke access at any time in your Google Account at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
- Retention. Local publishing records are kept on the computer until they are removed. The saved inventory of non-public videos is replaced each time it is refreshed from YouTube, and entries not refreshed within 30 days are deleted. Removing an item from the tool’s queue deletes its record but not the video file or the video on YouTube. Videos uploaded to YouTube remain there until deleted in YouTube Studio; the tool does not delete them.
- Analytics. Data held by Google Analytics is retained according to the settings and policies of Google Analytics, not by this site.
- Deletion requests. To ask that data be deleted or to ask a privacy question, contact: privacy@classroom-timers.com. Requests about data held by Google, Google Analytics or YouTube must be made to those services.
4. Changes
If this policy changes, the date above changes with it.
